Learning Goal
Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to identify basic information about how the DeLaval VMS-V300 Robot (robotic milker at the dairy) helps the OSU dairy function.

- SS: 3.4 The student will identify and describe basic economic activities creating prosperity in the state of Oklahoma.
- SS: 3.4.3 Examine how the development of Oklahoma’s major economic activities have contributed to the growth of the state, including mining, the energy industry, agriculture, aviation, tourism, tribal enterprises and military installations.

Lesson Delivery
Anticipatory Set
- What do you think of when I say robot?
- Encourage students to answer and describe what they think of as a robot.
- Why do you think people use robots?
- Does anyone have a Roomba or Shark vacuum at home?
- There’s even a robot that mows people’s yard for them!
- Robots help us perform tasks and save time. We have a new robot here at the dairy that helps us milk the cows!

Students should be encouraged to draw and label the robot with a cow in it, the metrics screen and anything else that helps the students remember the robotic milker.
